The Data Service launches

'New MI Library service'

The Data Service has launched a new MI Library service which will give the further education sector and its partners access to a wide range of essential information at their fingertips.

The Data Service's new MI Library contains more information about learners, learning programmes and learner achievement than is currently available in an easily accessible and transparent way, providing information on the FE sector for providers, partners and the public. This is a step in the right direction for supporting the coalition Government's agenda on greater transparency and making available key information. The new MI Library has been trialled with a number of providers in the FE sector since July 2010 and has been developed using their feedback to ensure that it is providing the kind of information the sector wants in the way it wants it. Information already accessible from the Data Service website includes:

A quarterly Statistical First Release on Post 16 Education

Qualification Success Rate Reports

Learner Responsive National Success Rate Tables

The new MI Library will offer user friendly information on other areas including key facts about learners, such as numbers of enrolments, Apprenticeship starts, achievements and success rates and learner numbers by location, equality and diversity and learning difficulty and/or disability. New information will be available at the touch of a button including interactive reports by local authority area, enabling users to select the local authorities they are interested in.

Rich Williams, Head of the Data Service said: "The MI Library will mean that the FE sector and its key partners will have a huge amount of information available at their fingertips. This new service offers a lot of useful informationthat was previously not available.

"The MI Library is user friendly and as well as containing new information, will enable users to look at the information in a different way.

"We are moving away from providing information in a static way to a much more interactive way. Looking ahead, we will increase the information we make available and listen to feedback on how we can improve the service further."

The MI Library can be accessed through the Data Service website,

www.thedataservice.org.uk.
